In this study, we determined that Ketogenic Dietary Therapy was effective in reducing the incidence of seizures and had a noticeable effect on 82.4% of study subjects. Compared to baseline values, patients with focal onset seizure with right or bilateral EEG lateralization presented a significantly decrease in the global efficiency of functional connectivity at 12 months after KDT. This indicates that KDT decreased neuronal synchronicity, and in so doing decreased the frequency of seizures. KDT was also shown to moderate behavior problems, by decreasing somatic complaints, depression, and attention deficiency/hyperactivity disorders.
